On Wednesday, May 3rd, Van Cleef & Arpels, renowned French High Jewelry Maison since 1906, graced Sydney, with the first High Jewelry Gala celebration of its kind in Australia. The gala was hosted by Mr Nicolas Bos, President and CEO of Van Cleef & Arpels, at the prestigious Barford House, a National Heritage home situated in Bellevue Hill, NSW, Australia.

Special guests were guided on an exclusive exploration of High Jewelry creations, understanding the highly distinctive style of Van Cleef & Arpels. Rooms within the private home were transformed to reflect the themes held dear to the Maison. These themes, which remain testaments to Van Cleef & Arpels 110-year history, include nature, couture, dance and the imagination.

The gala showcased High Jewelry creations of elegant detail, hand-made materials and special techniques, including the Zip Antique Astral necklace, Paradaiza necklace, Nœud bracelet, Palmyre earrings and Lathyrus ring. Meanwhile the Caresse d’Eole Fairy clip features the Mystery Set™ technique, patented by Van Cleef & Arpels in 1933. Exclusively presented at the Sydney gala, arriving straight from the Parisian workshop, was a newly imagined Ballerina clip. The creation is adorned with rose-cut pear-shaped and round diamonds and rubies.

The Maison’s longstanding affinity with dance was celebrated during the gala, with the announcement of its partnership with The Australian Ballet and their Ballet Ambassador Program. The Australian Ballet is devoted to nourishing and promoting the art of dance – an emblematic source of inspiration for Van Cleef & Arpels. This union, with one of the world’s premier ballet companies, further extends the Maison’s relationship with the arts and their enchanting universe of dance.
